Between September 20 and 27, millions of people throughout the world will be walking out of their workplaces and homes and join their local youths in striking and rallying for the end of the fossil fuel era.
“Our house is on fire - let’s act like it. We demand climate justice for everyone.” state the organisers of the global strike on the movement’s website.
In a promo-video for the event, 16-year-old activist Greta Thunberg, who will be joining rallies before and after the UN Climate Summit in NYC, stated, “We are the younger generation. We are the ones who are going to be affected, and therefore we demand justice. Everyone should mobilise for the 20th and 27th of September because this is a global issue which actually affects everyone. We are all in the same boat, so everyone should be concerned about this.”
Visit the Global Climate Strike’s website to learn about scheduled strikes and rallies in your area or register your own if there are non planned. On there website you can find online training workshops for organisers, as well as materials and resources that could guide you before and during the rally.
As leaders of the world congregate at the United Nations Headquarters in New York to discuss the climate crisis, let’s show them that we won’t stand quietly by as governments and corporations place profit and strategic interests over the survival of our planet.
Take action and join the Global Climate Strike this September. In the meantime, please help spreading the word about the strike through your social media channels, at your workplace, and in your communities.
