Join the Fashion Revolution today!

It is common knowledge by now that the fashion industry is responsible for egregious environmental and human rights violations. Currently, the fashion industry accounts for 10 per cent of the world’s carbon footprint and is the second-greatest contaminator of local freshwater around the world. All the while, the employment of workers under subhuman conditions for meager pay continues in fashion warehouses across the world.

Fashion Revolution is a non-profit organisation bringing together designers, academics, business leaders and world citizens in order to make the fashion industry more environmentally friendly and respectful of human rights. The goal of the organisation is to achieve these goals while maintaining creativity and ingenuity in the fashion world.

Based in the UK, Fashion Revolution runs an international network of supporters, partners and collaborators, working both globally and locally to raise awareness of the issues surrounding the fashion industry and develop sustainable solutions.

“We want to unite people and organisations to work together towards radically changing the way our clothes are sourced, produced and consumed, so that our clothing is made in a safe, clean and fair way,” Fashion Revolution states on its website. “We believe that collaborating across the whole value chain — from farmer to consumer — is the only way to transform the industry.”

The organisation’s reach spans across multiple areas. It engages in direct advocacy with fashion brands and policy makers, as well as provides tool kits and information to public figures, brand ambassadors and consumers, in order to educate them about ways in which they can consume fashion more responsibly.

Fashion Revolution also instructs people on how to apply pressure on brands in order to increase transparency and encourage them to adopt sustainable and humane business practices.

For more information about how to get involved and contribute your part to revolutionising the fashion industry, check out the organisation’s website.
