Join Brady and promote real gun reform in the U.S.

The epidemic of mass shootings in the United States in spiraling out of control, claiming the lives of more and more innocent people every year.

Just yesterday, a 14-year-old confessed to murdering five of his family members (including a six-month-old baby) at their home in Elkmmont, Alabama. The day before, a gunman in Odessa, Texas shot 21 people, killing 7 and injuring 25 more.

Overall in 2019, there have been 19 mass shootings across the U.S. This does not include rampant gun-violence that plagues homes and streets all around the country.

Founded in 1974, Brady is a non-for-profit NGO working to eliminate gun violence in the U.S. Through a network of members and volunteers, Brady advocate on behalf of much needed gun reforms and raise awareness of the issue around the country.

The group’s ultimate goal is to reduce gun violence in the U.S. by 25 percent by 2025, arguing that this target is achievable if people of all backgrounds unite behind the cause.

“Now is the time to unite people,” Brady states on its website, “[F]rom coast to coast, young and old, liberal and conservative, fed up and fired up, and free our country from what is killing it. It’s in our hands.”

Among Brady’s ‘comprehensive plan’ targets is the expansion of background checks (to encompass online sales as well as gun shows and private transfers), heavily restricting access to military style assault-rifles and bump stocks, outlawing ghost and 3D guns, and expand the categories of people prohibited from purchasing guns.

Brady also seeks to reduce unintentional shooting injuries and deaths through legislation that incentivises safe storage and requiring safe storage warnings to be issued with every gun purchase.

The organisation also seeks to expand research on gun violence. Eliminate the blocking of data from the public, and terminating the immunity of the gun industry (which enjoys protections under the law more than any other industry in the country).

Brady engages in litigation on behalf of victims of gun violence and represents them in courts across the country. The group also works with politicians in order to promote sensible and comprehensive gun reforms on the state and federal levels.

Brady also operates a wide network of grassroots programs comprised of volunteers and youths committed to spreading awareness of gun violence and working with communities to bring an end to this problem.
