The murder of George Floyd by a white police officer in Minnesota last week has sparked a wave of protests across the United States and the world.
Floyd’s killing was the most recent out of countless tragedies during which black people were killed by police officers in the United States. It served as a painful reminder - not only that police brutality continues to be a serious problem - but that systemic racism remains prevalent and corrosive in the U.S. and beyond.
As protests demanding racial justice continue to spread, it is important for people across the world to join the movement and contribute in whatever way possible to organisations and groups fighting to end police brutality and systemic racism and uplift communities of colour.
To help you navigate the NGO landscape dealing with racial justice and black empowerment, we prepared a list of organisations and platforms you can donate to:
Reclaim the Block - A Minneapolis-based coalition advocating for and supporting community-led safety initiatives designed to defend people of colour. Find more information about them on their Facebook page.
Black Visions Coalition - An organisation led by black, trans, and queer individuals working to abolish oppressive and violent systems, promote community-;ed safety projects in black communities, and shifting the public narrative around issues of racial justice in order to achieve long term societal changes.
Campaign Zero - an organisation conducting research, creating policy solutions, and empowering community solutions to end police brutality across the United States.
Unicorn Riot - an nonprofit NGO working to expose cases of racial injustice, systemic oppression, and environmental issues, as well as revealing their root causes.

The group supports people of colour of all demographics - regardless of their gender, sexual orientation, age, and immigration status.
George Floyd Memorial Fund - The official GoFund me campaign launched in order to support the Floyd family
Minnesota Freedom Fund - a community-based nonprofit coalition that pays criminal bail and immigration bonds to individuals arrested while protesting against police brutality and racial injustice.
